CMI's SYVIO-200 HD media streamer gets a hint (or three) from Popcorn Hour
Take this as a compliment, Popcorn Hour. Your product has gained so much recognition and acclaim that a Chinese outfit dubbed CMI has shamelessly knocked it off. To be fair, the design isn't exactly the same, but it's close enough for us to understand where the SYVIO-200 got its inspiration. The HD media streamer pretty much mimics the A-100 in every meaningful way, though it does include the very beneficial HDMI 1.3 specification. You'll find oodles of media streaming capabilities as well as NAS / BitTorrent support, though your guess is as good as ours as to whether it'll ever find a US distributor. For the record, we're guessing "no."

LOL--they even neglected to replace the "A-100" on a couple of the bullet points on their blurb on the CMI site:
"*The SYVIO-200 supports the latest high bitrate video formats (MPEG2 MP@HL, H.264 HP@L4.1, VC-1 AP@L3 in TS of at least 40Mbps) to give you up to 1080p high-definition videos
*In recognition of advances in Internet TV, the A-100 supports peer-to-peer Internet TV streaming technology from SayaTV, as well as popular unicast Internet TV such as YouTube, Google video and metacafe via the media service portal
*The A-100 firmware is upgradeable to support future media containers, codecs and features"

Probably does use the A-100 firmware. Why write what you can steal?

OK, so it is a rebranded NMT?
Same chipset, same firmware, same support forums but different logo on the box.

Exactly. I think "knock-off" isn't the right word, when the software and hardware running the Popcorn Hour can be licensed and used legitimately.
