Mediacom joins the big boys with its Olympics HD package
Mediacom subscribers won't totally miss out on the Olympics (although you might be, unless you got up early to catch the U.S. Women's Soccer team take on Norway this morning), since the cable company signed up for the NBC HD VOD package seen on so many other systems. You should be able to grab more than 800 hours of HD on NBC, Universal HD and USA HD on the HDTV Family Package, and plenty of daily update from Beijing on video on-demand. Better get that DVR ready.

In the past month they have also added TNT-HD, CNN-HD, SCIFI-HD, TBS-HD, FSN-HD, Sports South HD, and a PPV HD channel..

TWC of NYC just added the aforementioned nbc family of olympic channels as well! It has been active since this morning:
195 USA HD
196 CNBC HD+
197 Basketball HD
198 Soccer HD
Not sure if there is an olympic VOD channel.

What? Is this the last cable provider to sign on for Olympics? This is why I don't have cable. Mediacom is never up to par with anyone, including Comcast.

Yeah, this would be great for me if I could actually get an HD receiver from Mediacom. They've been backordered in Ames, IA for a few months new.

Not true. I just signed up one month ago for HD here in Ames, IA and a tech came two days later to hook it up.

Well I better get in touch with them again! I talked to them a couple weeks ago and they hadn't had any for a couple months (?) and to call back in a couple weeks.

ya it sucks here in Des Moines, IA. Mediacom has the market, no other internet around here can compare but their TV pretty much sucks and they're customer service is horrible and the prices are not anything to be proud of.
