Adult Video Network launches channel for VUDU set-top-box
We'd stop short of calling it inevitable, but we aren't shocked one bit to hear that on-demand porn has landed on VUDU's set-top-box. Adult Video Network (AVN) has developed a channel for VUDU which enables users to rent and purchase SD or HD films just like any other less explicit title. As expected, users would be asked to first "verify their age" and clear parental controls before anything on the channel could be viewed. Interested in pricing details? Try $6.99 / $19.99 for SD rentals / purchases and $8.99 / $29.99 for HD rentals / purchases.[Via CEPro]

Smart move. I am beta testing the Fyre TV box and sadly... it has no HD. At least not yet (it does have an hdmi port... so maybe it could be added in later firmware?). Anyway, HD porn is definitely the way to go. SD looks too pixelated on an HD tv.

This really is a pathetic move by VUDU and an act of obvious desperation. They have at best sold approximately 15,000 units (VUDU recently confirmed unit sales in the 5 digit range).
With free porn so readily available through P2P downloads and elsewhere, I find it hard to believe that many will pony up $300 plus rental fees for HD smut. VUDU is just forestalling the inevitable.
