Popcorn Hour puts A-110 HD media streamer, B-110 mobo up for pre-order
Who knows if Popcorn Hour really is still working on a couple more HD media streamers, but its latest one is definitely up for pre-order. First whispered about a few months back, the $215 A-110 is a revamped A-100 that adds 2.5- / 3.5-inch SATA HDD and USB Slave functionality, HDMI 1.3a support (for full HD audio pass-through) and an optical S/PDIF to replace the coaxial S/PDIF socket. For those of you looking for even more flexibility, you can take a look at the outfit's new B-110 Baseline. This "Home Theater Motherboard" arrives with the media enthusiast in mind, boasting support for HDMI 1.3a, optical / coaxial S/PDIF connectors, four USB 2.0 ports and a mini-ITX form factor. Both pieces should ship out within two to four weeks, but considering just how sticky things were when the A-100 launched, we'd tack on a few weeks to that estimation just in case.

That figures. I just ordered my A-100 2 weeks ago and it's due to ship tomorrow. Oh well, I can't take advantage of all the new HD stuff anyway (video or audio) and I've run out of optical audio ports on my receiver. All I have left is a coaxial audio port, so the A-100 is perfect for my setup. The only thing I like about the A-110 over the A-100 (at least for me) is the USB port in the back and the new black paint job. ;)

So what container/codec would have a TrueHD or DTS-HR audio track? I don't think you'll be plugging in an external Blu-Ray drive into this puppy.

All right, I am admittedly a total noob on the subject, so hopefully you guys can help me out. If I backup my current BDs (mkv format?), using something like AnyDVD onto a HD hooked up to this bad boy, about how much space per movie would that be? Can anyone comment on the BD playback? I'd really like to move some of my SD DVDs and was hoping to stream some of my HD DVDs and BDs as well.

I use Anydvd and go to the Stream folder and take the Main movie (the Largest .M2TS file) ... and it plays back on the PCH perfect , both Audio and Movie

Thanks, Jon. How big is the typical .m2ts file? I might just have to jump on this thing.

anywhere from 15 - 30 GBs (Not small) ...

Hopefully it does well what it promises. All you would need is to stick a cheap blu-ray drive in your pc and rip as you please, then use this thing to stream it all uncompressed. I don't know if they got all the issues fixed with the original a-100, but for me PH holds the most promise.

I would have wanted one...until the Canadian DMCA was announced which would, in affect, make this thing totally useless.
