With this technology in a Blu-Ray Player, is it at all possible that a NetFlix Streaming option could be added to a PS3 via Firmware update? That would be nice.
Possible, yes. Likely, I don't think so. Sony wants you to download from the Playstation Store, and unless they get a really nice kickback from Netflix, I don't see them adding that feature.
burndive, that makes no sense. Why would Netflix agree to something like that when they already have deals with other manufacturers? It's more likely that Sony, who is trying to get the PS3 on the same level as the Xbox 360 is now, likely will put this out but wants to concentrate on the gaming experience of the PS3 first.
I expect to see Netflix streaming on any network set-top within a couple years, including the PS3. It's just more proof that per-movie rental is going away for more a la carte' stuff via the net. Apple needs to get this notice and either bring Netflix officially to the AppleTV or set up their own monthly subscription for a la carte movies.

I'm pretty sure the Xbox 360 agreement with Microsoft specifically prohibited Netflix from setting up such an arrangement with Sony.
