Boise, ID. I am not saying that the area I live in which is ranked 126 on the DMA market list should have been first in line for HD Locals, but when you are adding Dothan, AL and Butte, MT before markets nearly 3 times their size, it is a bit ridiculous. I wish someone could explain how these decisions are made, although I suspect they are made for the same reason all business decisions are made... and it isn't customer service.

Jason

Comments on DirecTV announces next 44 markets to get HD locals

Being a resident of Dothan, AL, I must confess that it is surprising to see Dothan on the list. However, it is pretty funny to see so many people complaining about it. Whatever the reasoning behind the decision, I am quite glad as I've been waiting too long for significant HD penetration around here. To give an idea, I bought my first HDTV (4:3 1080i 32 inch Panasonic CRT) nearly 9 years ago and it's only been a little over a year since Dothan got any HD channels. Thankfully, though, I've had plenty of video games and movies to wet my HD appetite. Yeah, I was the guy who chose "HDTV and the Digital Transition" as my topic for my informational speech back in college. This was around 2000 or 2001 and no one in my class had a clue what I was talking about. By the way, I'm on my 3rd HDTV, a 50 inch Panasonic plasma (TH-50PZ700U). If you're in the market, the TH-50PZ800U looks mighty nice. And in case anyone is still reading, my second HDTV was a 34 inch crt, the model number being my name here as well as my XBOX Live gametag. If anyone is wondering, the XBL gamertags I wanted were already taken. FYI: consumer electronic model numbers are generally available for user names. Peace.

KD34XBR960

Comments on DirecTV announces next 44 markets to get HD locals

While we are talking about DMAs, what the hell is going on with Lexington, KY???
