Too late for me tho, I have a hankering for a black TX SR875.
THX2, Reon 1080p & enough high quality musical ability - as opposed to being 'just' a movie soundtrack blaster (which I think is where the 605, 606, 705 & 805 fell down) - to encourage a purchase.

I'm just waiting on the discount voucher to arrive

Thanks for letting me know that anything less than an 875 doesn't do music well. It's just the slight reliability issues and running hot I'm a bit worried about leading me to believe that the Denons and Yamahas might be more reliable. I hope Onkyo fixes these issues in future models. Although I did read someone say that the Integras don't run as hot as the Onkyos. Have you had any issues with your Onkyo?

Actually Roland please accept my apology and let me correct myself, I should not have included the 805 in that.
The 805 is also a very nice THX & THX2 certified receiver but it does not have the Reon processor for your video.

(it's also true that right now there is a - very small - flaw in the Reopn's operation in the 875 & 905; but owners have been assurred that there is a new firmware on the way to correct this, Onkyo so far have been pretty good with their support so I'd believe them)

I do know for sure tho that the Onkyos offer excellent specs & performance for the money they look for them tho.

I also know several people on a few a/v forums who have swapped aging but very high end kit out for Onkyo 805s, 875s & 905s and who are very impressed and happy with the results.

Personally I'd say that if you are getting THX 2 certification on your amp you've probably got to be seriously gifted if you can tell too much difference between any that are THX2 certificated with your own ears
(as opposed to some kind of gauge).

In those circumstances I'm happy to go after best spec & value.

(having said that I also know people who think the whole 'THX thing' is just another part of the whole marketing machine, I think they are great as a hi-fi standard to work from tho)

.......and then you move on to your speaker set-up
(and that's another whole new set of - potentially very expensive - variables).
- and don't forget the rows it can create at home, my wife just loves to hear how much I'm spending on this hobby. Not!

Mmmmmm, isn't a/v tech fun, eh? ;)

I can only speak about the 875 remote, but personally I've found it to be an impressive little beastie.
It's all illuminated, can do macros, can learn from any other remote and they tried to keep it from going to that monster bloated fat size some of the all-in-ones are at.
