well that does it for me. I have vista premium and an xbox extender. i run a variety of VMC plugins (the best is msdvrtoolbox to skip commercials automatically) as well as hdhomerun, qam tuner hybrid hauppauge card. But I'm done with microsoft. i've been awaiting this for a year and a half, searching frequently for fiji updates and so forth. An OEM only update. You just lost a VERY loyal customer. So now what? what's the best bet for me? MythTV, BeyondTV, sage, etc? any suggestions? i'm very tech savy with terabytes of space and willing to build my own box. Do I go linux? is there good media center support there?
I was reading through thegreenbutton and saw a response from microsoft: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Wow. This was an eye-opening thread... and not in a good way. There is obviously a lot of frustration about this, but I don't agree with making personal attacks and (in my opinion) very hateful and harsh statements without any real information to back it up. I was also a little surprised at being personally called out for not posting a response (along with Microsoft in general) to a post that wasn't even one day old. Thanks guys, really... I feel the love.
That said, I'll refer back to my earlier post on this topic, and say that we will post more information before the official announcements at CEDIA. You can expect this to include explanations to several of the issues brought up in this thread. In the meantime, I'll see how much (if any) information I can comment on, and we'll share more details when possible. However, I encourage future posts to be somewhat respectful, as I will not be responding to any questions within the flaming or overly anti-Microsoft posts. We all care about the success of Media Center otherwise we wouldn't be here... so please keep that in mind when posting. This is kinda disheartening. I hope this doesn't stay OEM only. Time to drop MCE if it is. Ugh this is like MCE 2005 all over again.
All I really want is the directv support anyways
