Time Warner Cable adding a trio of HD channels in Waco / Austin, TX
Time Warner Cable just finished adding 11 high-def stations to the EPG in Irving / Las Colinas, Texas, but it seems to only be able to add channels in Waco / Austin in threes. Case in point: late last month, said region picked up a new trio, and now, we're hearing that a new trifecta is headed in starting July 17th. Curious for details? How's about Biography HD, Hallmark Movie Channel HD and Travel Channel HD. Sure, anything is better than nothing, but we have a sneaking suspicion that locals won't take too kindly to TWC choosing these three out of all the possibilities. Are we right, or are we right? [Disclosure: Engadget is part of the Time Warner family][Thanks, Chad]

I'm still hoping that TWC gets a deal done with Universal for SciFi HD, USA HD, and Bravo HD. They have a little over 3 weeks before the olympics, and I'll be disappointed without USA HD.

about time. the local channels bragged about local news being HD. Bull. The quality is no better than digital. The local network affiliates don't even remember to switch to widescreen high def when there is a national broadcast event, case in point, EURO 08, it took them half the game to figure it out. ABC (Channel 25 Waco) doesn't even broadcast the national nightly news in widescreen high def.
Time Warner certainly does not have anything to brag about. The only reason I don't switch to dish after 25+ years is the hassle involved. Time warner has no incentives to keep loyal customers....In fact the newcomer packages are cheaper than mine..
