Warner Bros. International isn't planning for BD-Live in '08
Looks like Warner's BD-Live commitment doesn't stretch beyond U.S. borders, with Warner Bros. International VP Marc Gareton recently telling a conference in London not to expect an BD-Live titles in 2008. European BD fans aren't going totally without, as he added it might follow in it's domestic twin's footsteps by adding digital copies to movies before the year is out. A lot of things could play into this decision by the studio, but for the time being if there's any Blu-ray exclusive features your best bet may be importing or hoping someone else owns the international release rights and goes the extra mile to make things right.

Import??? Did I hear import for bluray? Well, it may work as long as WB does not implement region lock.

Maybe the Europeans don't care about BD-Live as much as "we do".... as for me, I am breathless with anticipation for my first BD-Live experience, oh the suspense is killing me... /sarcasm...

Doesn't surprise me. BD-Live requires a lot of server side build out for the sake of a handful of users who would bother with the feature. Issues are compounded internationally because the content would have to be localized too.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Jul 11th 2008 2:11PM
I seriously don't give a crap.
The movies are what's most important, every time my PS3 asks me if I want to let BDs access the internet I say no (and wish I could make it stop asking).

The resident fanclub can pretend this doesn't matter but those 'extras' were part & parcel of attempting to convince the regular punter that high def offered a much bigger broader experience.
They could at least point to those additional features to help justify the much higher pricing.
Looks like they are not going to try and will attempt to get by with just looking a little better than much less expensive upscaled DVD
(and whether you care to admit it or not that is how many people see this......particularly on the mass-market majority's 32" - 50" HD TV set - which itself may only be a 720/768 set).

OI! Get back under the bridge where you belong!

What would it take to make you stop with these predictable anti-blu jabs? Seriously, when would blu-ray EVER be good in your eyes? We've all heard your points, enough already....everyone thinks you're a joke....
Truth Teller @ Jul 11th 2008 9:31PM
JimC, the point is correct, whether you like to see it held up here or not.
You might grow tired of hearing that all is not lovely in the Blu-ray garden but you ought to either skim past it
(you know, like the grown-ups do with so much stuff in the world they don't agree with)........
....... or realise Blu-ray & the Blu-ray hydra gang are just reaping what they sowed, fullt deserved & completely in kind.
Suck it up.
:P

BluRayisDead & Truth Teller,
I don't care for the BD-Live, it was a gimmick, I think it will cause studios to invest needless money in order to think they can sell a title for more money, I said that back when you guys were touting it before BD got profile 2.0. I never thought it was a good idea and still don't. The only reason BDA felt compelled to include VD-Live is because HD-DVD touted as an "advantage". I knew that was bull back then and it is still bull. I am willing to state that the cost of developing BD-Live content WILL NEVER give adequate return on their investment. No one will EVER buy a title based solely on BD-Live content. I would like to see a title come out with two versions, one with BD-Live and one without and make the price just slightly less for the standard version, I bet it would sell 10x more copies just for the slight dip in price. Of course this will never happen but it would be a telling experiment.
My quibble with Truth Teller was the "get by with just looking a little better than much less expensive upscaled DVD" remark. Only those who haven't seen the difference in person won't mind. Once you see the difference you wouldn't want to waste your money on SD DVD on your awesome HDTV...to say otherwise is a joke and you know it...
