For years, we've wondered why
Inside the NFL, with its sweet
NFL Films footage and in depth coverage of one of the best sports to watch in high definition, was stuck in SD; but the show's move to Showtime has remedied that. TV Week reveals the upcoming season will be produced for your HDTV, the only proper format considering we get the
games live in HD and daily highlights on ESPN-HD, why should a weekly magazine show be any different? If you miss an episode Wednesday night at 9 p.m. (starting September 10), expect plenty of opportunities to see it again with about 10 replays per week, hosted by Cris Collinsworth, Phil Simms and James Brown plus a series of guest hosts. Thanks Showtime, for letting HBO know how things should be done -- seriously,
Bill Maher going HD first should have been a crime.

For those of us who have HBO and not Showtime, this is really a slap in the face. I known I've been waiting for this to air in HD for a long time and now I won't get the chance to see that happen.
There are a number of other shows I like that are not aired in HD - even though they are on HD channels - and I simply don't understand why. I get so frustrated when I turn on an HD channel and find this, considering all the money I've put into being able to watch HD.
I'm sure it's a stupid question to ask if costs more to broadcast a show in HD, but is the cost that much more significant? Couldn't a show like "Inside the NFL" still be shown in SD, but with the highlights in HD (since the games are broadcast in HD anyway)?

NFL Films shoots in 16mm. It's not going to be all that impressive in HD.

Showtime is the new HBO. HBO has cancel or let all it's good shows end. Now they got crap to show for it.
HBO was stupid to cancel a show "like Inside The NFL" after 25 years. Glad to hear Showtime picked it up.

Im so glad this is staying on TV. I was hoping that maybe NFL network or ESPN would pick it up, but oh well. I have all the Premium channels, so it makes no difference, it would just gain a larger audience on a non premium channel. Nice to see at least one of the people from the last few seasons on there. Too bad Dan and Bob is not on. I like James, not so much Phil. But VERY glad its going to be in HD.
