While Time Warner Cable has been boosting HD lineups in overcrowded areas of New York and New Jersey for a few months now, folks in the less traveled portions of NY have gone without. Granted, it's no
onslaught of 50, but we have received word that Disney HD, ABC Family HD and Toon Disney HD have just landed on EPGs in Jamestown, Binghampton, Corning and Elmira, NY (along with surrounding areas). So, we can expect the other 47 soon, right TWC? [

@Andrew - I totally agree with you. This UI needs to be incorporated into the Texas market. The UI we have here sucks so bad!

The old UI is not any better.
I really liked the comcast UI with their motorola boxes
Hey how about bringing back newsgroups, TW. Cheap bastards.
riverside_guy @ Jul 7th 2008 10:47AM
For those who may not understand the bit about "newsgroups" it's about their high=speed, broadband service known as RoadRunner. Part of that service is access to some 30,000 newsgroups" which are akin to bulletin boards where folks gather around specific subjects.
Some of those "subjects" revolve around things that most do not care for (like child porn). Some, like child porn, are being increasingly subject to banning by law. Which is fine... BUT instead of simply not carrying such groups, TW is simply dropping the entire service. Essentially an excuse to limit and reduce service without reducing pricing.
As for the UI being discussed, instead of paying for professional software developers to deliver the interface to the TV services we pay so dearly for, they decided to create their own, by hiring one non-english speaking 14 year old programmer somewhere deep in eastern Europe. The result is this "Craptigator" software they are forcing on their customers.
As most of the population of Manhattan can't receive OTA or satellite, it's a 100% captive market. Which is why those residents get less than one half the HD channels the rest of the city gets... AND they pay more for all those reduced services. Now, this is exactly where their world wide headquarters is located... but they care not because they have a 40 some odd story skyscraper and a big Direct TV dish on top so they get great service for all the execs who make all these decisions. Nice, eh?
