Since they're based on CRT technology, which I understand to have an "infinite" contrast ratio, I've always thought the numbers game was only relevant for LCDs.

Any clarification would be helpful. Some people and videophiles complain that motion enhancement takes away from true cinematic experience. From personal experience, I prefer plasma. The reflection does bother me some but not enough to sway me to LCD. At work we had Meet the Robinsons on bluray hooked up to an XBR4 and it was amazing. That was before we popped the movie into the Panny pz80u next to it did we realize how much better plasmas were than LCD's for movie watching. The motion was so much more fluid and the colors appeared much more bold. The XBR was still great and would be a fine choice if you've never seen it on a good plasma. =) However, if I needed for a living room with a lot of ambient light, the xbr4 would probably be the best option out there.
