Comcast Center's video wall packs 10 million pixels into 27 x 87-foot display
When you're Comcast and you have some serious cash to throw at an installation in your new Philadelphia-based Comcast Center, you go all out on a $22 million high-definition video wall, of course. The giant display measures 27 by 87-feet and mashes 10 million pixels across modules linked by a central system that contains 27,000 GB of info, six DX700 LED digitizers, seven Encore video processors, and three Matrixpro routers. So what does it do? It's kind of a giant screensaver that may get old over time, if you ask us. It displays the time, shows figures pushing the panels open, and plays with the space in surreal, 3D-esque animations that are, admittedly, fun to watch. Check the video after the break.

Or they could have skipped building the wall and lowered their prices. Just a thought.... You know because that would be a smart thing to do...

I was thinking the same thing. My wife and I have Comcast. Whenever I have to call their tech support, I always let them know that I'm unhappy with the selection of channels. We are getting the triple play package and have their version of extended cable. We used to have RCN and their extended cable package basically included everything except the premium movie channels. Comcast's extended cable leaves out several channels, including Speed. All I want to do is watch the freakin' motorcycle races during the summer, but I don't want to pay $10 per month to get Speed along with other channels I don't give a crap about.

I wonder if their video feed has any compression artifacts or if those are only for the customers?

I go in and out of the Comcast Center ever week or so and it is simply amazing. The video is so High Def that it actually looks 3d. I have never seen anthing like it. The video does this display no justice.
