Stargate-themed home theater saves you a trip to space
Hot on the heels of the $150,000 Italian home theater comes one from another galaxy... literally. Designer Phil Chaney teamed up with science fiction addict Andrew Caldwell to create a Stargate-themed lair that could probably lift off at any moment. The room is decked out with stars, ambient lighting, Atlantic Technology in-wall speakers, a Control 4 system and an elusive Blu-ray player to boot. Nah, it won't be easy to recreate this one without some serious cash (and space), but those still waiting to receive SciFi HD can torture themselves further by checking out the slideshow in the read link.

I don't think anybody will be losing their virginity in that room.

And the stargate is set and ready for a trip to planet Sad.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks that that's the coolest thing he's ever seen.

It is kind of neat, but just thinking of all that wasted screen makes me cringe. The placement of the stargate couldn't have been any worse... a rectangular peg does not fit in a round hole

Hey, I like Stargate just as much, or more than the next guy, but yeesh. That's just tacky.

I would rather have a real star gate and a Star Trek themed home theatre, every trek theatre has been way cooler. I still have not seen a Star Wars home theatre.
@ Jake Tobak no it does look cool
@ Anonymoos lol you are clueless it might be nerdy but the plain fact of the amount of money spent will get you laid. The point is the person who did this has money, and money ALWAYS gets you laid, be it a star trek, star wars, or indiana jones themed movie theatre, the fact you even have one in your home will get you laid, trust me lol.

But why would he have that stargate in an Atlantis theme. I mean everyone knows that the Atlantis stargate looks completely difference from that....Geez, that looks much more like the Earth gate than the Atlantis gate.

should have made the entry way to the room the stargate, with some kinda fiberoptic curtain all lit up, then make the screen look like a goa'uld view screen or something
Rusty @ Jun 19th 2008 11:33AM
I would of made it look like the inside of a Puddle Jumper.

Neat theme, but how about make the stargate BIGGER than the screen so you don't end up with half of your nice projection screen viewable. Round screen? Barf...
Alareth @ Jun 20th 2008 10:46AM
Are they mad? Those chairs are way to close. They'll be vaporized by the "Kwoosh" the first time that gate activates ...

Here's an example of an interesting idea gone wrong. Sure, create a Stargate themed room, but not at the expense of sacrificing the theater screen. Round screen? Sorry, once you cut off a significant portion or what you're displaying or shink it to fit that round screen, you've completely lost me. And what's the point of having a theater room anyway by that point? Own up to the fact you created a Stargate room for the purpose of having a Stargate room.

It's got plenty of seating for all his friends!
