Australia to see Foxtel HD+ service on June 22nd
You've known this day was coming, but it still has to feel good to have a hard figure to wrap your noodle around. Foxtel's HD+ is reportedly set to go live on June 22nd, with an HD VOD service and two puny HD tiers available at launch. The first tier consists of Fox Sports HD and ESPN HD, while the HD Explore package includes footage from BBC HD, National Geographic HD and Discovery HD. The tiers will set you back AUD $9.95 each per month (or AUD $14.95 for both), but how on Earth could you resist seeing the World Cup Qualifier between Australia and China in glorious high-definition this Sunday? That's right, you can't.

I had my Foxtel IQ upgraded to HD IQ2 last Saturday!!! And that was 2 weeks after I could have had it done on a weekday. The HD channels are already showing! What's with the "launch" delay?

Yeah, plus you have to pony up $200 in advance and those listed charges are all on top of about a minimum $70 per month, an absolute rip off!

Foxtel’s HD service is a total joke with so many repeats on BBC HD, Discovery and National Geographic. In any given day a program can be repeated 4 or more times.

I have been a Foxtell costumer for some time now and I have put up with their inferior product for that time, first there analogue had poor sound and picture quality and then they brought out digital, the picture improved marginally put the sound quality stayed the same now they are trying to sell me IQ 2 which is HD they want $200 upfront and $15 monthly on top of my monthly bill which is $135 just for 3 or 4 HD stations which are the same as the digital ,I can get channel 7 and 10 HD for no extra cost I don’t understand why I should pay extra just because they are trying to keep up with free to air and to fix their inferior product .I like to know if I am the only person that feels like they are getting ripped off, I think they will have to replace all there Foxtel boxes to HD eventually because they will stop making the old ones.

Well you are really being taken to the cleaners. I was just looking at what I dont miss about Australia and well one of them is TV. Its not just bad its a joke. In the USA I get 27 HD channels for 29.99 a month. To ad more of an insult there are many many free HD channels OTA and they actually transmit HD resolution not some makeshift format to save cost. My advice tell FOXTEL to shove it. Its not the early 1990s when HD was a new thing. Its almost obsolete. Not only are Aussies paying completely ridiculous prices for TVs but the programming has been hindered by Mr Murdoch since the first announcement of HD by the government. He alone managed to screw the public from ever getting multichannel DTV OTA by making the government mandate HD. You are all losers if you even bother to pay$130 a month for Youtube quality programming. Buy a US bluray player for $199 on amazon and buy the films from Amazon.com .... Wake up .. $100s of dollars a month for rerun TV that is the worst I have ever seen in the planet and WOW 4 HD rerun channels ... There is a real reason that some of us that were born there dont live there. Yippee rip off Australia. If you dont buy it they will have to improve it.
Have a look at what your not getting. www.directtv.com www.comcast.com
