MountainWest Sports Network comes to DirecTV on August 27th
We already knew the MountainWest Sports Network was destined to land on DirecTV eventually, and while we had heard that September was looking like a good candidate for a launch month, fans of the conference will be delighted to know that it'll be going live on the satcaster this August. Beginning on Wednesday, August 27th -- just in time for the BYU opener against Northern Iowa on August 30th -- The Mtn. will go live on channel 616. Notably, it'll be available on DirecTV CHOICE (and higher packages) for Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and Dallas / Fort Worth / San Diego, though customers outside of these regions will be required to subscribe to DirecTV's Sportspack. Now if they would only put the Mountain on Dish. It is a sad day when I have to choose between BYU football with a crappy HD-DVR and a good HD-DVR with no BYU football.

How does Dish Network's stealing of Tivo's Intellectual Property gel with the teachings of the Mormon religion Starkenator? I'd work on keeping a DVR period let alone which DBS company makes (or in Dish Network's case steals) the best one.
I'm not surprised it was a Cougar fan who found a reason to complain about positive news for the entire MWC, yet BYU fans still wonder why they are despised conference wide.

Wow. Brendan, do you own stock in Tivo or something? This story is positive news for the MWC, unless you have Dish, then you are in the same boat you were in last season. It is interesting how you took my preference for one technology over another and turned it into an attack on my team and moral integrity. I have not looked into it much but any technology Dish might have stolen, they will have to pay for in the long run and if I have to switch companies so be it. But right now I prefer the Dish HD-DVR. I would actually prefer to use media center but prefer to wait until Directv gets their HD PC tuner out on the market.

Skarkenator, I totally agree with you on the DVR. My best friend has the DirecTV dvr and I have the Dish and it would be very hard to part with Dish's dvr for Direct's. Brenden, not sure what this has to do with religion but their dvr software is now changed and just as good if not better than before, beats Tivo's by a mile. Plus I would never get rid of my external hard drive feature. I have 3 750gb hard drives full of content, many HD movies. To me Dish still prevails!

What's sad is that while DirecTV's HD-DVR has its issues, its still far better than any cable company's horrific DVRs.

now the mtn just needs to go hd.
