Verizon gets official with "at least 25" new FiOS TV HD channels
As if it wasn't official enough already, Verizon has just loosed a fresh release confirming that those channels we sniffed out yesterday are indeed coming soon. Officially, the operator is aiming to add over 60 new channels to the FiOS TV lineup "this summer," with "at least 25 in HD." As predicted, it reiterated its intentions to have "up to 150 HD channels" by the year's end, and while we aren't told what regions will see the new content first, it does make mention that it will "roll out the new content, region by region, beginning by early July." Curiously, Verizon asserts that everyone should have 'em within a few months of the initial launch, but the total quantity of available HD channels will be "between 52 and 65, depending on the customer's location." Well, they already missed 60 HD channels by spring, now it is 60 by summer. This trend does not bode well for their plans of 150 HD channels by the end of the year (which does not bode well for me, who was expecting many more HD channels by now).

Yeah well, out of those "60" channels. FX-HD is NOT one of them.

As an MMA fan, the channels that I want the most right now are Spike in HD, Versus in HD, the option to buy UFC PPVs in HD and more premiums that are already on my bill in HD (I'm not going to turn away free movies at any time).
Beyond that, my biggest desire is to see more HD native content on the channels that I already get in HD. Why is ESPN producing stuff like ATH in SD when they're doing Sportscenter in HD in the studio next door? Why are soccer games that are produced in HD overseas (champions league) broadcast in SD on ESPN2HD?
In all, I think that my list of demands is both short and reasonable.

ATH and PTI are both shot in a Washington, D.C. studio. I don't think ESPN does any HD broadcasting that isn't in-house.

the worst part is that they cover a whopping total of one acre it seems like
and this still wont equal the quality are quantity(if i can remember right) of dish or DirecTV
