CyberLink's latest PowerDVD update smooths Blu-ray playback
We can't imagine Nick is the only one out there who struggled with getting PowerDVD to handle Blu-ray Discs correctly, so if you've been letting said application collect digital dust while longing for it to function as advertised, take note. CyberLink has just shot out the latest update to the program, and according to our resident tipster, it's a game-changer. It enables hardware acceleration for H.264 encoding, enhances disc load time, reduces memory consumption and makes playback a good bit smoother overall. For PowerDVD 8 Ultra users, this one seems like a surefire download. Hit the read link to get it on![Thanks, Nick]

Can anyone suggest a way for me to get a copy of Version 7 with HD DVD support?

Because no one needs it?

Dave: Did you read my question before you replied? Try again.
I need it - I just picked up a cheap HD DVD drive and want player software. If there are any other products to be recommended, I am all ears.

LG has the most popular BRD drives out there, and they just released this year's updates. They also all include HDDVD playback support.
Why would you not add HDDVD playback BACK into your software? I'd think everyone with that drive would be looking for another solution that supports everything.

Doesn't Slysoft's AnyDVD also do playback of HD-DVD and Blu-ray?

AnyDVDHD does HDDVD and BluRay. Works great on my media center over a non-hdcp DVI connection to 46 Inch Mitsubishi TV

Also, you can add HD-DVD support to PowerDVD8. You need to add some files from a beta that still supported it. Works great for me.
Also, I'm not going to flame, but seriously don't ASK for software if cost...
