I was told internet firmware update usually is a day or two behind web. Besides, I saw at least two incidents where ppl bricked their players doing firmware update via internet. So, disc update is a preferred way to do it. The new firmware fixed most of the known issues. Now I can truely enjoy my 5k and large collection of HD DVDs and BluRay discs.
