HD premiere of South Park's Imaginationland airing on DirecTV's The 101
Believe it. Your wildest (okay, maybe one of your wildest) dreams is about to come true. Tonight at midnight (local time, we presume), South Park will air for the first time ever in high-definition (on TV) when "Imaginationland" takes center stage on DirecTV's The 101. Viewers can delight in the feature-length, director's cut from May 30th to May 31st, and if that wasn't enough, the season eight premiere -- "Good Times With Weapons" -- will also be broadcast in HD on the same station. We can't say for sure that this is a sign of things to come, but we doubt we're alone in hoping so.

wtf with Comedy Central not going HD already?
Patrick @ May 30th 2008 4:50PM
i think it's ridiculous that just about any station isn't in HD by now. they need to get with the program. only for a few specific shows do i watch tv in sd. and it's almost always comedy central shows. otherwise, when i channel surf, it's only my hd stations that i flip through.
GO IN HD COMEDY CENTRAL! PLEASE! (the sooner the better, because i'll have to wait another 2-3 more years for comcast to add it to my lineup)

I'd even settle for every channel in letterbox / widescreen as long as the image isn't stretch-O-vision...............
I just hate the bars on the sides of every SD channel.

JSD, you do realize that Strech-O-Vision is just as bad as thinking a Mach 1 can match up against a Veyron?
Black bars = adherence to presentation withing the limit of definition.
Stretch-O-Vision = a push up bra

JDS, I apologize! We're on the same page - I thought you were arguing FOR Stretch.

Now this sucks. Stuck on Cox here. Why can't Comedy Central just go HD? Yeah, the Stand-Up stuff wont be in HD, but most of the cartoons and shows in recent years are in HD, from what I have heard, and a good amount of the movies are also in HD. Plus, Colbert and Stewert in HD would be awesome. Sucks I won't be able to see this though.

Good Times With Weapons was a kickass episode. Looked amazing in HD. Was much more enjoyable than Imaginationland.
