Time Warner Cable brings 6 more HD channels to Northeast Wisconsin
National Geographic HD and History HD were fantastic additions back in March, but we can imagine that Time Warner Cable subscribers in Northeast Wisconsin are already thirsting for more. Thankfully, said carrier will be adding a new half dozen on Thursday: Discovery HD (732), Food Network HD (751), ABC Family HD (755), MHD (767), Disney HD (769) and ESPNews HD (776). Not too shabby at all, especially with the inclusion of that last channel. [Disclosure: Engadget is part of the Time Warner family]

I don't get it. Northeast WIsconsin, where nobody lives, gets a bunch of new HD channels, but here in Southeast Wisconsin, where MOST of the state lives, we get ZILCH, NOTHING, NADA...... What's the number for DirectTV again????

I heard -- and don't quote me on this -- that the Northeast Wisconsin division is actually like Time Warner's #2 division in the country. I didn't believe it myself. Even if it's not, the Northeast Wisconsin division does have switched digital video in its system, whereas the Southern Wisconsin division does not yet have it.

You could switch over to Comcast, the most compressed HD channels, ever.

I live in Green Bay and just yesterday had DirecTV installed. Even if I had been aware of these additional channels coming online it would have made no difference at all. Picture quality is tons better and the DVR doesn't stutter and jump randomly.

I live in Greensboro, NC(TWC Piedmont-Triad Region) and I rebooted my cablebox last nite because it wasnt sending an audio signal out thru HDMI for wutever reason.........when it was loading up it did something it has never done b4........it downloaded a LONG update(15 minutes or so) and had this weird countdown while it was downloading......so I was expecting to see SOMETHING new when it started..........nothing has changed at all.........lol......waste of time...
anyways I'd like to have ABC Family HD, ESPNews HD, and Disney HD........already have the others........
the main ones I want the most tho would be USA HD, SciFi HD, and Cartoon Network HD.......and maybe even a new menu since I had to sit and wait for a terribly long update for no apparent reason..........

You probably got a firmware update to your box and/or CableCard. I'm assuming you have the SA 8300 HDC. I had that happen here in Appleton (Green Bay, WI market). After that happened, the little bugs and stuttering problems with DVR (like Rob mentioned) were gone. I think it was more of a Scientific Atlanta issue than a Time Warner issue. My 8300 HDC runs like a champ, speedy and quirk-free.
Nonetheless, I too would switch to a satellite provider if I could, just for the volume of HD content alone. Unfortunately, I'm in an apartment with no patio/deck/balcony, so I'm out of luck.

I would have rather had SciFi in HD than another worthless ESPN channel. ESPN doesn't need HD news they already have 2 HD channels.
