First Blu-ray record, Divertimenti, released
Fans of high-def audio rejoice: The first Blu-ray recording has been released. Fans of anything other than Divertimento, hold your horses: The first release is from Thondheimsolistene, an orchestra from Norway. "Divertimeni", as it is called, will be released by the 2L label in full HD audio glory along with a SACD track for those not on the Blu-ray bandwagon just yet. Formats include 2.0 LPCM, 5.1 LPCM, 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio, 5.1 Dolby True HD, 5.1 Dolby Digital at 48KHz, and it has been confirmed to work just fine on the PS3.[Via MiC]

Guys, it's not the first blu-ray music album out. Not even the first classical title, unless the Bach one hasn't been released yet.

i'm sure skid row fans are just waiting for some Bach in HD audio. prefers LP over dvd audio or cd.

Unfortunately I think that the amount of PS3 owners buying this BD will be extremely small. I'd really like to see sales numbers for anything else but Iron Man or Hulk.
I have a feeling that the numbers will be minuscule, which is a shame as this type of authoring definitely costs money and if there's no return they might get discouraged to release similar titles.

HECK YES. Bring on the HD audio. As a staunch audiophile I applaud all efforts at high resolution audio. Too bad we will always be the minority.

Wow that's a funky disk. A hybrid BD / SACD.
Brad @ May 31st 2008 6:13PM
It's not really a "Hybrid Blu-ray disc".
It's a 2-disc set:
One Blu-Ray disc
One "hybrid" SACD/CD disc

Maybe they should change the title to "83rd Blu-ray record released?"
I'm glad to see lossless audio making a comeback. Blu-ray is already far more mainstream than SACD or DVD-Audio ever were, so it bodes well for those who love high end audio.

Well, those are concert releases. This is an album. That's a bit different.
However, it still wasn't first. NIN - Ghosts I-IV came out on 5/1.
