Right on cue,
Eurosport HD has gone live. The high-definition sports network is currently airing in Poland on
Cyfra+, Cyfrowy Polsat and N, Sweden on Com Hem and Denmark on YouSee. It's also slated to show up soon on a smattering of other European cable / satellite providers, though no specifics have been detailed just yet. Hit up the gallery to see a couple of comparison shots between the SD and HD variants -- looks good from here!

It says full hd in the lower right corner, does that mean they are broadcasting 1080p ???

Wonder if this weekend's WRC coverage will be in HD?

Quality is actually pretty poor. Mostly due to poor source materials or so it seems.
And though it says Full HD it's actually 1080i.
Percieved resolution on my 47" 1080p-set is not much greater than the regular Eurosport but at least it's in widescreen and the bitrate isn't piss poor.

On Finnish cable network I've been watching it, quality has looked very nice on my 1080p projector whenever they actually use HD source. It seems that the French Open games shown live are proper 1080i but some (but not all) of the delayed games (e.g. yesterday when it was raining in Paris) were just SD content upscaled to 1080i. Also, the wrap-up studio discussion and the snippets of the games after the last match were just upscaled SD.

It was also lauch here in Portugal by Meo from Portugal Telecom.
The quality is superb altought I'm still with an old 16:9 CRT

The picture alone already looks MUCH better than what the Tennischannel-HD (Directv) is outputting. I guess it could be worse. It could be stretch-o-vision (TBS/TNT).
