Times are tough aoul over, and even cable giant
Comcast isn't immune to a little tightening of the belt. Word coming out of Maine is that Comcast is looking to sell 46 of the markets on the outskirts of its footprint, mostly in Maine, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Mexico, Virginia, Georgia, West Virginia and California. The move is about more than just the monies that will be generated by selling off its subscriber eyeballs, though. At a going rate of $3,000 - $4,500 per subscriber, that's not an insignificant chunk of change, either. By geographically concentrating its service areas, it should be cheaper to deliver services, including the all-important "
triple play." If you're affected by this selloff, we're hoping your HD lineup won't suffer for it.

In response to Stiltskin, Honestly Comcast in Houston more than likely won't sell off since they have spent millions of dollars during the transition from Time Warner Cable. I just went to visit my grandmother in Austin where Time Warner is still a griphold there, and there service sucks worse than what ours does here in Houston.
You should see loads of changes here in the Houston area according to a good friend I know that is a head technician for the Houston Comcast Region....
Lots of changes.

Why can't they throw NJ on that list too? I'd be soooo happy if Cablevision took over.

I can't imagine Comcast leaving the Bay Area in California, as they've been here for years. It wouldn't be a good move for them, as there's really no competition here other than Astound Broadband which took a step backwards and went downhill after be acquired by Wave. Comcast far exceeds their offering.

Time Warner was much better than Comcast. I'm not sure what it's like in Austin but in Houston it bytes! Time Warner is still down south (Corpus Christi) and the service is much better than Comcast.
Comast, the most compressed HD channels, ever.

Prob. all the adelphia markets that have the old mgz bands that cannot add hd or anything else, I know in VA prob. will be the outlying Richmond (colonial heights) and northern VA areas (caroline co and king william), with the northern neck thrown in for good measure///
