Not even a full week after Tennessee's governor
signed a particular cable franchising bill into law, along comes this mysterious flier from Comcast. Now, we know things can get pretty
heated between
rivals, but this just seems downright bizarre -- if it's not some sort of elaborate prank, of course. From what we can gather, Comcast has been circulating this here flier around, which clearly points out that AT&T "has been installing 52B Cabinets in Nashville and Middle Tennessee for the last several months." It also notes that said boxes are used for
distributing its U-verse television service, in case there was any doubt. Apparently Comcast is hoping to create an internal map of all possible distribution points in order to bring the hurt where it matters most, but we must say this seems like quite the stretch to get a leg-up. Ah, the
sweet smell of
competition.

No link? No link!? WORTHLESS!
I'm glad you were able to form an opinion about what Comcast was doing, but I'd like to form my own. Please add a freaking link.

If you think about this it is actually kind of funny, comcast relying on there customers which they have mistreated because they are a monopoly to help spot where competion is springing up. Oh the irony

I hope they show up in the Knoxville market soon. The monopoly Comcast has had over this state is terrible, and I, for one, am VERY glad to see some competition.

In our area, a few townships have been fighting AT&T, due to the large eyesore of these things.. Therefor in our area, AT&T are buying out ppl to place these on private prop.. And the towns are still fightin them..
We are just pin pointing these ourself in our area.. But if Comcast is doing this, the blogger is right, its to map out where AT&T is looking to launch.. They are being selective, due to new laws, and only bringin the services to Higher Class subdivisions in our area.. Which in my Opinion, is a form of discrimination.. But I guess thats just me..

What's really great is that the picture they have of the guy next to the 52b cabinet is actually from an Ars Technica article from December 2006. The picture is captioned in the article as being "Wheaton's Gary Wright standing next to a 52b cabinet". As in Wheaton, IL, NOT Nashville, TN, as the flier states
