Sling TR-40 quietly rebadged as the DISH Network DTVPal
Echostar can't seem to decide what brand to put on its upcoming DTV converter box. The device that many DTV converter box shoppers seem to believe will be the one to get, won't be available until June and although we originally heard it would be sold as the Sling Media TR-40, recently the little box has gotten 50 percent smaller and will be called the DISH Network DTVPal. A few sites are already accepting pre-orders that are expected to ship on June 16th, which won't help you very much if you signed up for your voucher on the first day like we did.

The one I'm waiting for is the Apex DT250:

It has S-Video, Smart Antenna, and Analog Pass-Through. Gonna throw that on the TV in my guest room.

GlobalHD has the Apex DT250 on pre-order now, and the site says they will start shipping around June 10th. AND they will honor/take your about to expire coupons now if you pre-order, then charge your credit card the balance when the DT250 ships. They are charging about $12 more per box than some other online retailers have the DT250 listed at, but they're the only ones that you can order from now if your coupon is expiring. I had an email exchange with them to confirm the policy before I ordered.

Too late for me. I've already bought two Insignia converters using my vouchers. They were due to expire on May 27th. So, I had to jump on the best available. It'd be nice if this Echostar came with some sort of pc or hdd connection.

They have one with a USB and HDD...it is called the TR-50...wonder which brand it will have when it comes out in Sept?

My coupons were about to expire so I bought a Magnavox TB100MG9 (w/analog pass through) and a Artec T3A Pro (because of 12vdc input). I had to settle for something other than the DISH Network DTVPal that has event timers and up to a 7 day EPG
