DISH Network's summer HD locals rollout gets revealed
With April and May almost behind us, there's only one place left to turn our attention to: summer. During a recent DISH Network Retailer Chat, a snapshot was captured showing a list of locales in which the satcaster will hopefully flip on HD locals in the next few months. According to Satellite Guys' Scott Greczkowski, DISH will be turning the new list of cities on "as soon as it has them setup and running," and a number of those listed would have already been live if not for "technical delays." Ready to see if your town made the summertime cut? Head on past the break for the full list.

WTF....common' Dish. It's not like Indianapolis is not a small market. Even South Bend has HD Locals now.

Here Here!!
I'm in El Paso, TX. About 900,000+ in the DMA. Not tiny.
They are putting Wichita Falls, TX, population 100,000, on the list WTF!!
Not cool. Not cool at all.

Tell me about it. DirecTV has had locals in my area for the past 6 months....Have considered switching, but I just don't feel like messing with it..

DirectTV has locals here in Indy, but I liked Dish's DVR better. Oh well. I have OTA HD channels for now, but sometimes they cut in and out.

They told us a couple year ago that they would be adding Tulsa in HD.
Then they removed it from the list.
Then they added a TINY area (ADA) in Oklahoma.
They suck.

Darn I was hoping for Duluth, MN.which was highlighted on the Charlie Chat on the map for this year..I hope they do it by the fall season. Summer doesn't matter that much to me as I am hardly ever home. Still, it's nice to see HD locals finally coming. My only downer will be that they are not including local PBS on most of these.

Wow, no love for the west coast! No a single city west of the rockies on this list! I want to be the first to proclaim Dish has an East Coast Bias!
MastrCake @ May 24th 2008 1:36AM
And I'll be the SECOND!!!
Will @ May 24th 2008 1:48AM

No locals for my market but oh well my Directv does!!
DJ Jenkins @ May 27th 2008 12:31AM
Serious ditto on the west-coast bias. In the roll-out this year it seems to all have started there, so I hope the west is coming soon. I am in Tucson, AZ, and we are the 32nd largest city in the country, for sure bigger than some of the cities on the list. Come on Dish!
Geeky @ May 27th 2008 9:11AM
Hopefully this means that DirecTV will get HD Locals in Lansing, MI as well. Comcast seems to have successfully blocked their digital channels from QAM tuners.
comstuff234 @ May 28th 2008 2:39PM
Im in Tulsa also come on now. Please Hurry
Hooterman @ May 28th 2008 4:21PM

Direct TV has my local channels in HD for months. If Dish doesn't put my local HD channels up before my contract expires, I am gonna give them the big ol' boot.
