Vizio / Olevia pitted against one another in LCD shootout
If you've been considering buying yourself a budget LCD HDTV, chances are Vizio and Olevia are still on your radar. Thankfully, LCD TV Buying Guide has taken the time to pit the two against one another in order to give you the information you need to choose the best of the pair. In the test, the 46-inch Vizio VW46L and 42-inch Olevia 242T FHD were used, and all of the important issues -- you know, image quality, shadow detail, color accuracy, motion lag, etc. -- were all covered. We don't plan on ruining it for you, so you'll have to exert a bit of effort and check out the read link below if you're interested in finding out which set came out on top.

I have always liked Olevia sets. My first HDTV was an Olevia and I have recently replaced it with a Sony Bravia. I am pretty disappointed. Sure it looks a little better then the Olevia, but it probably wasn't worth the price premium.

I'm afraid of getting either of these. I feel like in two or three years, these TVs bought now will start to have issues and then the companies will clean up shop and exit...
Don't they use older screens for their TVs?

why does it seem like this article is a little bias toward Vizio? Also, why compare a 47" to a 42", Vizio does offer a 42" 1080p set

I've had an Olevia for about a year now with no problems. The picture quality is much better than I expected for the price.
If you are looking for a solid budget priced HDTV, I definitely suggest an Olevia.

I should get a free HDTV from Olevia, since I have 6 friends that have all purchased a TV from them after watching mine. I love the brand for their prices and they have great customer service too! I had an issue with my first HD STB and they not only responded to my email in 10 min, the guy that responded to my email, called me too. I can't speak for vizio from experience, but I do love my Olivea HDTV fo sho...no regrets.

Wish they reviewed the Olevia 747i. Been lusting over that for a while and getting it soon.
Had they used it instead of that lesser 2 series against the Vizio, it's Silicon Optix HQV chip would have kicked the Vizio's ass.

I agree that another 42inch :LCD should have been used in the test. As you go up in size LCD has more problems and this just wasn't a even test, They should have tested the Vizio GV42LF model that I have. It's not perfect but I love mine!!!

Id love to see some of the other "no-name" LCDs out there compared. Throw the Insignia 42" in there, maybe even the Westinghouse.

OLEVIA IS THE WORST LCD ON THE MARKET. SHORT LIFE:
Laptop & LCD TV Reviews:
Warning for people thinking about buying a LCD TV or Laptop: The worst laptop in the market today is Averatec. I purchased a 12.1" laptop and could not get the customer service to even respond and when they responded they said I should find a local laptop repair shop to help me at my own expense. I paid a lot of money for this laptop and has taken it in for repairs 4 times and finally dumped it. This is the most terrible manufacturer one can ever encounter. I bought it based on a recommendation by PC Magazine, so be careful when you read these recommendations. Walmart and a lot of other stores have stopped carrying this brand. For those considering LDC HDTV, forget about Olevia/Syntax brand. The product is terrible and the customer service is the definition of "chaos". I paid $1500.00 for the tv, but have lost sound/audio and pictures/video a couple of times in just a couple of years. They don't have authorized dealers, so you either have to ship it to them for repairs at your own expense or hope to find a handy person locally to fix it for you.
