What is the big deal with these TA? Is any provider even using SDV yet? Is anyone missing out on recording HD cause there cable comp. uses SDV? I thought SDV was a thing in the future.
I have Time Warner Cable here in San Antonio. I have a Tivo Series3 (with cable cards). To date, TWC-SA has 32 HD channels (39 if you include premium HD channels). Because of SDV, I can only receive 13 of the 32, even though I'm technically paying for all of them.
We've been toyin and had our SDV deployed for almost a year already.. We've had to take it off a couple times due to bugs, but its been running now for goin on 6 mths pretty much glitch free.. At first I didnt like it, trouble shooting is a lil harder, but know that we all have a very good understanding of how this all works; its become a breeze..
Soon we will be adding 13 or 14 more HD channels due to the SDV.. Its great..

Cablevision in NY is also using SDV for their Voom channels, you can expect more use of it in the future.

I'm in northern Virginia using Cox cable, and a large chunk of my HD channels aren't accessible with my Tivo because of SDV.
