Tennessee governor signs cable franchising bill into law
Remember that legislation we mentioned early last month which, if passed, could pave the way for AT&T's U-verse to infiltrate The Volunteer State? Governor Phil Bredesen just signed said bill into law, creating statewide TV cable franchising in Tennessee. Beyond that, details are few and far between, but don't be shocked to see yet another programming provider pop up in the not-too-distant future.

It gets more interesting here where I am in Chattanooga. The local power company, EPB, who already delivers fiber to businesses is looking seeking a local franchise for FTTH for TV and Internet purposes.
Competition is sweet music to my ears.

Epb.
will also have voip. So I can drop the tripleplay. The funny thing is that it will be faster and cheaper than anyone else. Alton park should have before the end of 08.

Finally,
I cant tell you how sick I am of all the "PSA"s the cable industry has playing on every local channel commercial break, Comcast was the worst for this.
Gotta love competition...

Finally! I too am sick of those Comcast ads. We NEED some competition in Memphis. I'll be all over U-Verse, if I can get it.

I am psyched about this. Living in NashVegas and being held hostage by Comcrap for cable will be NICE to get competition. Not sure I want U-Verse since it can only do one HD signal (but i think they can do two now - or is it that other provider - now me confused) and i need at least 4.

It does two HD, two SD. Its not great, but its a start. In a lot of homes with only one HDTV (majority), it wont be an issue.
