Engadget HD Podcast 085 - 05.10.2008
No, your eyes and ears aren't playing tricks on you, we're rolling out this installment early. Summer's here, and some folks (not us) like to spend vacation time outside of their light-controlled, soundproofed media rooms. So rather than make you go a week without a podcast, we're back into the studio early. We talk a bit about Blu-ray releases and Toshiba's continuing HD-DVD support (way to go, Toshiba!). But the highlight of the week was Pioneer's show in NYC -- new Blu-ray decks, receivers, plasmas and even a projector. We're also gearing up for The Cable Show next week, where CableLabs will be giving tru2way top billing. Finally, ATSC has real reason to celebrate its 25th birthday -- the analog shutoff is right around the corner, especially if you're in Wilmington, NC. We'll be back on our regular schedule in a couple of weeks, guys! Get the podcast

I think you guys put one out so fast so that you could talk about the new KUROs. Just kidding.

I take at least one or two week-long international trips a year where I completely disconnect. Its refreshing. The other 50 weeks of the year I am constantly connected. Its really nice to let go, although the first day or two is rough. Take your time on the next podcast, I have an all inclusive resort vacation in Jamaica coming up.

Those Blu-Ray heavy are easy to listen to; skip forward, are they still talking about this stuff, skip forward. At least this show had some interesting content.

You guys are probably some of the biggest plasma snobs I have ever heard. Granted, plasma does have better picture quality than LCD, but to go around acting like the picture quality on LCD is terrible is absurd. I especially like your comment regarding the picture which displayed the second gen Kuros with the first gen along with some other plasmas and LCDs. You mentioned that LCD's actually look that terrible in real life. That is an outright lie! It's one thing to favor a technology, it entirely another thing to misrepresent one just because you don't prefer it. Stop spreading lies and at least try to be objective.
