Except for the blacks but the contrast and resolution are amazing. The big joke: despite the fact the KURO is the latest craze, the older 5000 is so much better it makes the current 50" look like cheap lcd's.

Why no 42"? Logic: 42" does not really benefit from 1080P there is not enough |real estate" on the screen to actually show the difference between 720P and 1080P. DPI and all that.

nerdo

Comments on

You know it kills me that Pioneer talks out of boths sides of their mouths with this. Why even bother getting everyone excited about a new plasma TV and waste the time researching new technology and production of plasma TV when they've publicliy stated their going to drop it in the very near future?

Why waste our time with TV's and technology they intend to drop?

They speak volumes of how BLACK the set is, then tell us "oh by the way, we're quitting KURO and we're just gonna make LCD TV" which aint EVER gonna get as black as this TV unless they go OLED rather than current conventional crappy LED.

It must be their intention to lose money producing plasma TVs that they don't advertise long term support for. So why would they wanna make TV's no one wants to buy since they advertise plasma will die soon?

Bob

Comments on

Bob,

Pioneer is not getting out of the plasma business. yes some other company will make the plasma glass but to pioneers specification.
it's no different than when you buy a Sony LCD. that panel was probably manufactured by Samsung and soon by Sharp.

Dan

Comments on

still cant wait to see what there lcd will look like. but pioneer will not stop making kick ass plasma. if burn it was not an issue i would got with there 60 inch in a heart beat

Daniel

Comments on

@Daniel

I purchased a 43" Pioneer Plasma back in 2004, when they were still making the 43" and to this day its still the only TV I own.
