They're still trying to figure out how to port all the HDi content to BD-J. Apparently it's not straight forward, but I don't know why they would bother as everyone knows that special features don't matter.
I have it playing off my HD-DVD disc. And if you're handy with the pc, play the "mkv" file on other video-capable players.
Maybe this announcement will get the guys at my local GameStop to remove the ridiculous sticker marked $34 for the MI-3 on Blu-ray. The have the open case with a "New" sticker. How is that new when it's already opened? This is not a car. A video, a game, just like a cd, if it's not sealed, the store should not pass it as new.
Michael Bay has been so vocal about Transformers looking better on Blu that I expect there is enormous pressure to make sure the disk really does look better on Blu. It certainly has the space to look and sound better. Wasn't the HD DVD also accompanied by an internet enabled disk?
I guess BD will have to be BD-Live too or make up for it in other ways. It it is BD-Live enabled, it may need a lot of infrastructure to be put in place especially if its Paramounts first online enabled disk.
The other titles are already done and dusted so I assume they just took the master over to their local replicator and just pumped out a bunch more of them.
Michael Bay isn't sitting at home reencoding Transformers.
In fact the most likely outcome is a straight 'port' of the HD DVD release (and all the Blu-ray fols can pretend that a 'reference' standard audio track would sound much better on their creative 5.1 set-ups if it was that wasteful & bloated uncompressed idiocy).
It's going to be funny hearing how the supposedly superior Blu-ray ends up (just like last time when Paramount encoded to suit each format) looking & sounding no different to the HD DVD release.
I've been enjoying many of the Paramount releases for months now.
Transformers? Well tbh it was a really cr@p film, some nice visual effects & some nice audio effects too but, be serious, it was about as instantly forgettable, childish & superficial as they come. Typical Hollywood fodder for the single adolescent male 'PS3 demographic'. All effects and no substance (typical Bay sh!te, in fact).
It doesn't age any better either, it'll not getting voted as an all-time classic anywhere that's for sure.
I thought Blu-Ray was about making the visual effects pop and the sounds top notch? I didn't think Blu-Ray was going to make the plot of a movie any better.
The movie is about the effects. I don't think they were trying to win an Oscar.
Classic? Who cares. It's simple entertainment. It's visual and audio candy for your home systems.
Whether or not it sounds or looks any different than HD-DVD is a moot point. They are both 1080p. The HD-DVD version looked and sounded awesome. However, Toshiba pulled out and the war is over. All I'm asking for is that it's released on BR.

Why do I get low ranked? I was just stating a fact. I didn't even insult BD.

@Peter:
There are still a lot of sore winners still around, apparently.

You could just download, and then buy it when its available.

The fact that I got a low rank for pointing it out proves my point.
