Marantz showing off high-end SACD players, amplifiers and more
Though we're not exactly sure if Marantz will be a wholly owned subsidiary of D&M Holdings for much longer, the boutique brand is still planning to strut its stuff at the upcoming Audio Karma Fest in Michigan. Reportedly, the outfit will be showcasing a number of luxurious components from its Reference Series, include the $3,199 SC-11S1 preamplifier, $4,199 SM-11S1 power amplifier, $3,699 SA-11S2 SACD player and the all new $2,599.99 AV8003 Networking AV Preamp / Processor. For those lacking the requisite scratch, the slightly less magnificent SA8001 SACD player ($899.99) and PM7001 integrated amp ($599.99) will also be around. Word has it that all of the items will be demonstrated on Snell loudspeakers, which all in all should deliver a fairly blissful experience.

Why the hell does anyone need a $3700 SA-CD player? You couldn't even find $3700 worth of SA-CD's on the market today.

So they want to sell an overpriced stereo which plays a format that failed in the marketplace? Great marketing strategy there..

SACD, might as well offer HD-DVD :)

I thought SACD was dead. My PS3 has SACD support but Sony canned it in the newer 40Gb models like even they had given up on it.

Sony canning SACD? The 40GB version is simply the low-end model of the PS3 range. Allow them some differentiation to reach a certain price spread. Check out PS3SACD.com for more info.

Dolby True HD and DTS MA blow SACD out of the water -- look for more music titles to hit Blu soon.

How on earth could you possibly think they blow sacd out of the water? In availability they have the upper hand but not in sound quality.Sacd is unfortunately headed for the scrap heap but I have not heard of any blu-ray audio only titles at all.

I love the uneducated comments here, guys who think they know something about audio. Most LPCM Blu Rays are at much lower resolution than a SACD, but thats not what is important, it plays CDs guys, many audiophiles will have thousands of dollars in CDs, and this Marantz system will destroy many system for sound. You guys are probably the type who think that a $5000 HT system is hi-fi, complete joke, I would rather have a stereo system where you get quality sound rather than quantiy of speakers.
