It's tough for Longmont citizens. Sitting just north of
Denver and just south of Loveland -- both of which boast upgraded cable systems from Comcast that deliver 29 HD channels -- Longmont's system has yet to be brought up to speed. As it stands, the carrier can only pipe through 14 high-def options, but between now and October, it's dishing out $6 million in upgrades in order to bring Longmont's lineup up to speed. Reportedly, the city will have access to the same number (29, for now) of HD channels as Denver / Loveland, and according to Comcast's northern Colorado general manager, Mike Trueblood, the company "expects to offer more before the end of the year." Now, the wait begins.

It's about time! I've been wondering when we are going to be getting more channels.

I was thinking about switching to DirecTV. But this sounds promising. Has anyone been able to receive HD OTA from the new tower? I can't seem to get a signal. But the Comcast news is promising. Yeah, LoMo!

This is why I had Dish installed at my house in Longmont in late 2006. Comcast had a very weak (4 local HDs only) HD offering at the time and no one could give me an answer as to when more channel were going to offered. Personally, I'll wait and see if Comcast really delivers by the end of the year in Longmont ( I worry that they won't).

Only Longmont??!?!?! I live in Parker, CO (a suburb on the SE side of Denver) and we still haven't gotten any new HDs. Comcast needs to get their act together. How can you add HDs in the city of Denver, but not the suburbs?? Does that make sense to anyone?

Makes sense to me in Denver. :)
But still, here I was getting upset at seeing all these "Comcast Adds "X-number" HD Channels in "Random American City" and angrily thinking "Why won't they add more in Denver!!!!"
(Ah well, guess they're too busy working on the burbs...)
p.s. I haven't counted, but I don't think I even have 29 channels of HD (Denver resident). In fact, I'm certain I have less. :( Gonna go count...

How much stretch-o-vision though? Do you really want upconverted and distorted aspect ratio "pseudo-HD", or do you want REAL 100% HD channels like HDNet or HDNet Movies? Call Comcast and demand REAL HD for your premium HD dollar!
