Goldmund's $300,000 Epilogue Speaker System joins Media Room
Personally, we can only imagine what a $300,000 speaker setup sounds like. But you -- we know you're eager to pick up the Epilogue Speaker System (previous edition shown) and rub it in the faces of everyone else, right? Regardless of whether you answered that truthfully or not, Goldmund (those same cats who actually had the nerve to create a $17,000 Blu-ray player) has introduced the latest version of the aforesaid system, which will now be built specifically for integration into the Goldmund Media Room. Pretty though they may be, we have a sneaking suspicion you won't be getting much bang for your buck with these -- but then again, what do our virgin ears know, anyway?

Goldmund obviously cater for people who have more money than sense.

It seems there is an endless stream of speakers with huge price tags being announced. Plus lots of cheap, small speakers.
I would like to see some announcements in the range of $3-6,000. Also, some 5.1 home theater sets for under $10,000.

It looks like an array of box speakers. They look like there is no electrical connection, i.e they seem to operate independently. I know Goldmund has a quality reputation, if more than a little pricey, but I fail to see how this can work, even if the individual speakers are of fine quality.

I think this link tells a lot about the current state of the audiophile-

Speaking as an audiophile, and someone who encourages people to spend more money on audio equipment, including systems in the six fiqures, these speakers are complete snake oil. The Epilogue 1s are spaced so far apart that you get tons of lobing in the high and mid frequencies. I've seen many DIY speakers that look and have fewer techincal problems as the Epilogue speaker system.

I would love to see the results for a coat hanger-speaker wire A/B test with these.
