I had a PDR-10 a few years back, but upgraded it to a PS-1000. Paradigm makes some of the better subs for the price range. In fact, they make some of the better speakers for the money.
I like that they pretty much do everything in house, which lowers the cost. They also don't go for the stupid certs, like THX, so that saves the consumer more money. There parent company also owns Anthem, like Paradigm, makes great products for the money.

Also, the Canadian government built a fancy acoustics lab for Paradigm to use.
So thank your favourite Canadian, for their tax money went to reduce the cost of Paradigm speakers to you.
