Stressing out over taxes? Sure, a new half dozen HD channels on your EPG isn't apt to solve your problems, but at least you'll have something to look forward to when you're done fighting the lines at the post office, right?
Comcast has announced that six newcomers are headed to the San Francisco Bay area today: Sci-Fi HD, Food Network HD, Animal Planet HD, The Learning Channel (TLC) HD, CNN HD and AMC HD. Users in the region will also have access to over 400 high-definition on-demand choices, but the release does note that certain parts of Santa Rosa, Hayward, San Leandro, Sunnyvale, Los Gatos and Saratoga will sadly be left out of the upgrade. Here's to hoping The Man isn't holding
you down, eh?

Stupid comcrap, I get a message on my STB for every stupid PPV sporting event but no message telling me 6 new HD channels were added?

They never mention that in addition to Hayward and San Leandro, Castro Valley is left out of almost all their upgrades. I waited for on demand to arrive in Castro Valley for over two years before switching providers. To this day Comcast still promises their customers that it will "be coming soon". After hearing this for the past few years I will believe it when I see it. They promise this to thir customers because even though Hayward, San Leandro, and Castro Valley don't get all the features as the rest of the bay area they still pay the same rates.

Comcast also hates on San Lorenzo, which is right next to Hayward and San Leandro. Anybody in these areas looking at Comcast, don't bother. Nine HD channels in this area is pathetic.

Fremont customer and surprised to see that indeed I received these channels - even after I contacted Comcast and said it wasn't available yet in my area. Comcast customer service - the one time I'm happy they were wrong!!

Gah, stupid Sunnyvale. They were supposed to have finished their headend upgrade by now. Why are we always the red-headed-step-child of the Bay Area?
