Wow, Sony, from 60" and 70" more affordable SXRDs, you go up to 52" and think you have got it made in the marketplace...but no. Even though there is a 55" Bravia LCD panel lurking out there, it will probably be double or more what many paid for the SXRD and you will call it "progress", but for who? The 70" LCD set, in your current "marketing model" costs as much as a good automobile, around $33,000, hardly worth it except for the very wealthy...what do you have for the average consumer who sits at the distance of a 60" or 65" inch set (or 70", like you had with the SXRD or "Qualia")? Nothing. My next set will be a Panasonic 65" Plasma or Sharp Aquos 65" LCD set, still more pricey, but for THEIR prices against your 70" set, I could buy at least THREE of them. Your AVRs are very good, your Blu-ray is excellent and the cameras and computers are fine, too...but your HDTVs are missing sizes and affordable pricing after 52"...bad for you, SONY!
Well, Samsung has a 70" HDTV priced at $40,000 too so you can't bad mouth them about that. But what I don't understand is the TVs are priced north of $4000 and the equivalent set by Samsung has better specs and is cheaper! I think Samsung's HDTVs sell better than Sony because many stores offer better deals on them than Sony's HDTVs and a consumer isn't hurt by the better specs either!
