my blockbuster still doesn't rent blu-ray... the 2 other nearby video rental places DO
They still havent ALL switched over yet.

My blockbuster's all have Blu-Ray and have already had the Sony kiosk w/PS3 playing a Blu-Ray movie since December...I figured this was standard everywhere. Either way, ours is positioned right in front of the new releases, and if you're standing in line checking out, it's right behind you, so it gets watched/looked @ a lot. They always have some cool dvd/blu-ray side-by-side comparison clips playing.

My blockbuster has that stupid Kiosk in it but their blu-ray selection is still limited, and they dont seem to get new releases on it very fast.
Blockbuster online still sucks at having blu-rays available. So tempted to go back and try netflix again.

The main problem here is the same as the main problem with Blockbuster in general: Franchise stores. They aren't governed by the corporation, so they make all their own decisions, and every franchise store I've ever been to sucked compared to the corporate stores. They dont keep the facilities OR selection up as much, they dont abide by the company policy of no late fees (REALLY frustrating the first time you mess up and end up owing $20) and for the most part, they dont stock blu-ray. I think it is rediculous for the company to herald policies that only guarantee to apply to about 30% of the stores I've ever been to (maybe that's just my area's bad luck).

My local Blockbuster carries Blu ray but never has the new releases until a month or two after they come out. What good is that? I rent my SDVDs from a Movie Cube Kiosk across the street. $1 per disk per day. New releases included. I watch them and bring them back the next day or 2. I saved many $ over blockbuster. I can rent 4 @ Movie Cube for each one at blockbuster. Blockbuster charges over $5 to rent a Blu ray disc, even if its an old title and not a new release. For those reasons I have only rented one Blu Ray title from them. They are just not right for me.

Finally. The Blockbuster here in Tallahassee doesn't have any Blu-ray movies. Back home our Blockbuster had both Blu-ray and HD DVD.

My closest Blockbuster does not have Bu-ray titles. The one that does is about 3 miles further away. And it had only 20 titles to rent. All the most recent ones were rented out.( I don't think they stock many copies of each title) I was pretty disappointed. I turned to renting them via the internet and Netflix. I hope Blockbuster does a better job of stocking Blu-ray titles in the future. Even their young clerk at BB said he doubted they would ever have many titles. Not that he actually knew.

That's good news. The selection at my local in Canada is sub par. Oddly they still stock some HD DVD's and did stock them from day 1. Even after the announcement that new stores adding HD formats would be Blu only. Maybe Blockbuster Canada has different policies.

Yeah, they SAID they were backing Blu-ray but there have not been any titles in our local stores at all...everytime I've asked when will there be titles to rent, the answer's always been "next month". Maybe now, "next month" is finally here!!
