TBS HD shedding its stretchy skin, showing more true HD?

Watching baseball in high-def on TBS HD is a beautiful thing, but witnessing nearly everything else in unflattering stretch-o-vision isn't exactly enthralling. Thankfully, it seems as if the channel notorious for abusing its "HD" suffix may be coming back over from the dark side, as more and more content of late has shown up in actual 1080i. For instance, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle was aired over the weekend in true HD, and more recently, episodes of The Office have been broadcast sans the stretch. Heck, even the TBS watermark and on-screen graphics have been tweaked to signify the apparent coming out party. Surely we aren't the only one noticing an influx in actual HD content on TBS HD, right?

I had a feeling once baseball started, they would change. Now I wish they had college football once again... But I agree, it does look pretty dang impressive.

As ESPN did before them, they learned that people wouldn't stand for stretched content and that the viewer had countless alternatives. Next up: A&E.

Interesting redesign. I think there's a logo missing at the top. That or a serious waste of prime realestate. like the menu for the various sites at the top. Nice clean feel, though the white space caught me a little of guard.

The Braves were always broadcast in true HD, at least locally. Sucks they no longer have the contract. :(

As part of my ongoing battle to convince my wife that dishHD is a good thing I put Legally Blonde on tbsHD this past weekend. I noticed immediately they pushing through unstretched content, but a number of times during the show the picture would freeze up though the audio would continue. Then after switching channels and back the picture came back but it was the stretched version. This same thing happened again the next day with Black Sheep. The difference was that when I cycled the channel the picture came back without the stretching. The weather was good both times so I don't think it was intereference.
Any ideas?

Some of the Everbody Loves Raymond episodes are also in HD.

Funny how they step up with HD episodes and then decide to screw up the sound at the same time. Seems that they broadcast Dolby Pro-logic with all the HD content which just sounds like an echo chamber through my surround. Atleast I can flip from 5.1 to 2.0 stereo and it goes away.

I noticed this while I was sick and dying on the couch all weekend. I almost shit my pants when The Office came on and there were no black bars. I can actually watch this channel now!

I don't mind having Family Guy in strech-o-vision though. I really don't notice it on that show. Same thing with Cartoon Network. Stretching doesn't appear to be such a bad thing with cartoons. Does anyone feel the same way?

I agree. Cartoons are not too bad stretched and the ONLY thing I do not mind being stretched.
