Apple looses minor Apple TV 2.0.1 update
While VUDU has unleashed a couple of updates for its movie STB of late, Apple has just let slip the first point update since the Take 2 upgrade. Dubbed version 2.0.1, the update adds a "Genres" tab in the My Movies list among other small tweaks. Anything particularly useful added here? Toss in your input below.

I hope it addresses the performance issues I've seen with playing back audio files.

I'm thinking about getting an AppleTV....could you elaborate, what performance issues are there when playing audio files ?

it actually adds genres under the "my movies" tab, the one shown in the picture was already there

Your screenshot is highlighting the wrong area... My Movies (meaning your own DVD rips and/or iTunes purchases) are now sort-able by genre... something we've all been requesting ever since we bought our AppleTVs last year. The button you highlight in your graphic has been there since 2.0.

Yawn. When we can rent HD movies on iTunes on an HTPC, wake me up. I'll happily start shoveling money into Apple and the studios' coffers.

It hasn't stopped my Apple TV from locking up. I use an HDMI Switch and I've seen a couple of forums where people are having trouble with the Apple TV freezing. When I switch over to Apple TV I see the Apple symbol on my screen. I try to do something with the remote, but it just sits there. I didn't have this problem with the 1.0 firmware. If it sits for a while I have to reboot it by cycling power to it.

Bummer - I have been having the Apple TV lock up too and I was hoping the 2.0.1 version fixed it. I haven't had a lock up since, but it sounds like I may just have been lucky so far. :-(

Performance has been improved when scrolling through a list of video podcasts.

Hitting + on the remote during video playback will pop up a progress bar.

Too bad that update broke my (and others') network connection using AirPort Extremes, 802.11N, and wide channels.
