TWC adds Discovery suite to Piedmont Triad region of NC
In a move sure to make those in the neighboring Triangle exceedingly envious, Time Warner Cable has seen fit to add in the Discovery suite to its HD lineup just down I-40 in Greensboro / High Point / Winston-Salem. As of today, subscribers in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina can turn their attention to TLC HD (546), Animal Planet HD (547), Science Channel HD (548) and Discovery Channel HD (549). Here in Raleigh, we're still doing without, but hopefully TWC will string the newcomers down sooner rather than later. [Disclosure: Engadget is part of the Time Warner family]

I was surfing through the HD channels last night, and imagine my surprise when these showed up. Never heard a word about it beforehand, they were just there all of a sudden. Very cool, and long overdue. I hope the Raleigh area folks get it soon too.

Thats cause they dont announce stuff much....I seen them yesterday morning around 7-ish
I dunno about you but I wish they would upgrade the cable boxes here and the software on them. this old menu is crappy looking compared to the one in the Triangle area(Raleigh/Durham) which is blue and gray and seems to be easier on the eyes

The whole staff isn't in Raleigh, but this guy is.
An NC native and NCSU alum. It's heartbreaking watching our basketball program implode, but I love the area. Small world, indeed!
And yes, HD Theater has long lost its luster -- can't remember the last time I turned it there to find something fresh.

Haha, yeah, State really did suck this year. They need to get their act together. Carolina on the other hand is ridiculous. Oh well, I'm an Oklahoma fan so I could care less about basketball. Football is the real sport. ;) Oh, and hockey. FSN South needs to pick up more games in HD!!!!
Maybe we'll have to do a Raleigh meet sometime if there are a bunch of people around here.

When are they going to produce The Military Channel in HD? That's the one I watch the most and I'd love to see that in HD.

This is interesting because I thought the big TWC markets in NC (Charlotte & The Triad) got extra channels before we here in SC, but I noticed these pop up here in Columbia sometime last month. Time Warner is sneaky though. They never announce new channels, and they tacked them on behind HD Showcase on Demand where you normally wouldn't think to look. :P
