HD DVD and Blu-ray releases on March 18th, 2008
Well this it, the very last HD DVD exclusive gets released tomorrow -- at least from any studio you've actually heard of. Although HD DVD exclusives have still been selling well, we don't expect Atonement to sell anywhere near as many titles as the past few hot HD DVD exclusives. Moving forward, HD DVD only has 16 titles left on the calendar and ten are Warner titles previously released on Blu-ray. So, starting next week, this will become the Blu-ray release post, where we'll focus on Blu-ray releases vs what's available in SD on DVD. Speaking of which, Universal is releasing the first season of the now canceled show Bionic Woman on DVD, but there's no mention of an HD version. The hottest title this week is without a doubt I Am Legend. Will Smith's night crawler movie is at the top of the Amazon DVD chart (that's right, it's outselling DVDs), so we expect it'll easily take number one on the Nielsen VideoScan numbers next Friday as well. The other Blu-ray title released this week is no slouch either, as Disney's Enchanted is at nine on the Amazon charts, with the DVD version sitting at two.HD DVD 413 vs Blu-ray 473*

What happened to the T2 Ultimate HD edition? I need my 5th copy of that movie!

It gets released alongside Premonition on the 20th as Kinowelt's last HD DVDs.
You'll be able to buy it from XploitedCinema.com, Amazon.de, or any other HD DVD importer that you think will carry it. I use XploitedCinema, myself.

Bionic Woman! LMAO, what a joke that remake was. I'm surprised that it even lasted more than one episode.

I wonder if the Blu vs SD release posts will get as heated as the Blu vs HD posts of old.. I'll miss watching the monday morning flame fest. :(

I am Legend went to #1 because it was on sale for $18.95 for the Blu-ray edition over the weekend. That's a heck of a deal.

Funny thing is, I saw an ad for Atonement this morning that stated "coming to DVD this Tuesday" with no mention of the HD version, not even a glimpse of an HD case in the background as they've been doing lately. Seems that the obvious is true: people really want to wash their hands of the whole format.

It was fairly apparent at the end of February that both Universal and Paramount wanted to wash their hands of this mess. After Beowulf, neither studio was even mentioning HD DVD in their ads. It was funny, I knew something was up with Bee Movie at the start of March when Dreamworks started running their ads. From the second they hit, the only mentioned DVD.

Coincidentally, the HD-DVD version of I am Legend is #22. Nothing like a price point to drive sales. Blu-Ray is $18.95 and HD-DVD is $18.99. The war (in an insignificant way) lives.

@ Prey521
The show actually started strong out of the gate, probably because the producer of Battlestar was behind it, along with Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) as a villain. The ratings fizzled because the writing never came close to Galactica quality.
@ Ben
FYI, the show is called "Bionic Woman," not "Women."

Too bad the HD DVD isn't being released until April 8th!!! Damned Warner!

I noticed on the commercials for I Am Legend, they clearly show the HD DVD box along with DVD and Blu-Ray versions, however the voice over makes no mention of HD DVD. I wasn't sure if it was coming out on HD DVD or not.
