The reason not to get the Sony/Epson/Sanyo: Native contrast ratio. Both use a dynamic iris and, even so, do not come anywhere close to 30,000:1 contrast ratio of JVC.
Also, the JVC uses the Gennum GF9351 VXP Image Processor, which is much better than the processor/deinterlacer in the lower-priced products.
