AT&T's U-verse coming to University of Houston residence hall
Just in case a free iPod touch / iPhone isn't enough to convince you to attend a certain university, how's about dorm-installed U-verse? Hailed as the first planned deployment of AT&T's fiber-based services into student housing on a college campus, the University of Houston has teamed up with the aforementioned carrier in order to bring TV and broadband internet to "every room of a 547,000-square-foot residence hall under construction for graduate and professional students." When complete, The Calhoun Lofts will be home to some 1,000 U-verse connections, and while there's nothing specific said about the availability of HD channels, we can't imagine any upstanding Cougar settling for less.

Way to use a picture of an apartment that looks like no residence hall in existence. I dare you to find on campus housing that is THAT NEW and THAT NICE.

That picture came directly from a UoH PowerPoint showcasing the expected design of the new Lofts. So it's actually quite likely that the picture will look like the real units once completed.

New dorms like that aren't uncommon in Texas, which kinda sucks because my dorm hall was more like a civil defense bunker with painted concrete block walls and industrial-grade carpeting, and that was just 10 years ago. Hell, the one in that picture is even nicer than my current apartment.
But back to U-verse... I've had it for about a month now and absolutely love it. HD quality could use some work, but compared to what I had before (no HD at all), it's great.

It's a grad student dorm too they are usually quite swanky compared to the cages they had when I was an undergrad.

Hmm. That might be the architectural design, but I can tell you that UH students are (on the most part) neither wealthy enough, or stylish enough, to have it decked out like that. I'm sure if you were to actually go into any of them, you would see the standard 15 yr old sofa, beat-up coffee table, and a sheet for curtains. Having said that, the kitchenette looks nice. Assuming the beadroom is the same size, it looks larger than my first few apartments.

I'm sure that's a mockup, look at the thickness of the TV...
