I dropped iTunes for the (IMO) better Zune platform. If they want to stop pirates they need to know what DRM is not the way to do it. DRM only punishes those who don't abuse the system. And those who do abuse the system will just find a way around the DRM. I have it on my PC, Apple TV, and iPod. Biggest plus is the ease of downloading and speed. Its not something I'd use much (I agree with TorontoGuy- If you're buying a frickin' Blu-ray Disc, why are you going to watch low res video on a 1" screen), but this is great for people who are not really saavy enough to rip their DVDs and reencode them for their portable device.

TJ

Comments on Lionsgate adds iTunes Digital Copy, starting with Rambo

Yes, I may have a 60" plasma at home but when I really want to impress the guys there is nothing like a hefty 1.5" ipod screen to watch the latest action film.

TorontoGuy

Comments on Lionsgate adds iTunes Digital Copy, starting with Rambo

I'd rather get a separate copy of the movie on DVD instead of this DRM infested itunes disc crap.

mcrexx

Comments on Lionsgate adds iTunes Digital Copy, starting with Rambo

Lessee.

Blu-Ray sucks because you can't transfer movies to other formats.

Now Blu-Ray allows it with Digital Copy, but that sucks too because it is "tied to iTunes" (untrue) or requires something less than HDTV to play (teeny tiny iPod/iPhone).

There is no satisfying people on the Internet. You dont download it from online. You have same usage rights as you do with any other (non-"plus") media downloaded from the iTunes store. For the record Family Guy is 640x480 @ 1.5mbps

in windows:
1. option for the same iTunes experience that the mac has.
2. option to copy a windows media (DRM'd) file for PC playback or transfer to you personal media players that support wmv-drm files.

"Managed Copy" as far as I know is still a long ways away from being a reality, so this does provide a nice interim solution for those with compatible devices. In my opinion it provides a nice slick and easy option for the "majority" of iPod/iPhone/AppleTV users who likely have no clue what Handbrake or similar ripper is.

also to TorontoGuy - check you specs, the latest iPods and iPhones have a higher resolution screen than your PSP.

cowgp
