Vizio's are fine for regular TV viewing BUT using it for you home theater display would be like choosing to watch a DVD instead of a Blu-Ray disc: You're really missing out. But there is no reason to think this will be a Vizio, other than that they are one of the least expensive brands around. Of course, with that low cost comes the fact that once they are out of warranty it is cheaper to buy a new one than get a broken one repaired (since they only way they service them is if you ship them to their CA warehouse and pay a large flat "repair fee").
I gotta say, even at this price, I wouldn't buy one for "future use" since I did that once with a CE device -- and by the time the future came, I could have spent far less and gotten far more, and not have been sitting on an unopened box for a year. (Oh but I'll bet you were joking, like: I've been buying up HD-DVD players to use as doorstops in my home.)
