I love seeing motion blur when I watch sports, it adds for dramatic effect. 120hz processing doesn't over compensate at all, seriously, it's the best thing since sliced bread. It's funny how the best TV ever made is 5th in sales, shows you how ignorant people are when it comes to shopping for TVs... spend $2,500 on a crap LCD because it's 1080p, but not spend $2,500 on a Pioneer plasma which has the highest contrast, deepest blacks, ASIC processing, 4 HDMI 1.3 inputs, etc., because it's 720p. I hope Panasonic's new panels match the quality of Pioneer's!

JermTool

Comments on Pioneer says goodbye to plasma manufacturing

This is really bad news. This is a false story. Pioneer is getting out of the 42" PDP display biz, not PDP entirely. There was a story in the Japanese press about how Pioneer was shutting down it's 42" panel factory which it had purchased from NEC several years ago, and somehow that has been completely blown out of proportion. I need (well... want) to replace my 4 year old 65" Mitsu CRT-based rear-pro behemoth. I'm running out of 60"+ viewing options that offer quality pictures IMO. Yes there's the Sony 60A3000 SXRD but we already know Sony's pulled the plug on manufacturing those as well. I'm not a huge fan of LCD, but like Sony's Bravia line. Yet again I'm not aware of too many AFFORDABLE LCDs in a 60"+ size. Is the next choice a Panny plasma???

Craig Korinko

Comments on Pioneer says goodbye to plasma manufacturing

Goodnight sweet prince.

Carl

Comments on Pioneer says goodbye to plasma manufacturing

We called the Pioneer store (only one in US...by the way) here in California and we confirmed that Pioneer may cease ALL PDP production. At least if the king shall die, it will go to a very worthy... Panasonic. The new 2008 Panasonics are improved over the 2007 models, but are still inferior to the 2007 Kuro. 9G Pioneers will be downgraded in build quality using Panasonic parts (like the glass) to make them cheaper to sell.

HDpurist
